Co-Insurance Problems

I noticed this article from the BBC the other day and whilst I would concur with most of its comments, it is such a common trap that people fall into. If you have home insurance then take out further travel insurance which provides cover for your possessions you already have covered it leads to problems when you claim. Which insurer should pay you for your loss?
