Terrorism non damage business interruption cover

Terrorism insurance is an area that has developed over recent years to reflect the risks facing small business. Perhaps the most overlooked aspect would be cover where there is no actual damage occurring to property. Think about terrorist acts in this country in recent years - they have generally involved knives, firearms and vehicles and have been aimed at people rather than property.

This can leave businesses exposed to losses from being unable to operate due to a police cordon preventing access to their premises. Revenue may decline due to a lack of footfall in the area. Think the London Bridge attack of 2017.

Losses such as this would not be covered under a traditional insurance policy, and not even under a normal terrorism policy as this would require physical damage to the policyholders premises.

Cover can now be arranged to extend the terrorism policy to include cover for "non-property damage" to plug this gap.
